What does “Mil Spec” mean?
Mil Spec is short for Military Specifications. The U.S. government has established specifications and standards to manufacture most products to be provided to the military. As a U.S. military and government vendor, we are aware of these very stringent specifications.

What does ATA approved mean?
The ATA (Airline Transit Authority) sets standards for packaging and cases in order to protect equipment and products shipped by air transportation. The ATA publishes a manual that indicates the specifications that must met and referred to as ATA 300.

What are the ATA Specifications?
Within the ATA 300 class for transport containers, there are two categories for reusable containers, and a third category for “disposable” containers.

Following is each category’s specifications, and the durability definitions for each respective category.

Temperature extremes: -40 degrees F to 130 degrees F
Fasteners and Hardware: Are to be flush or recessed. Straps and buckles are not acceptable.

Handles/ Hand Holds: Except for molded containers, where guarded handles are used, all handles handholds or grips, shall be recessed flush with the container. There are also requirements regarding the number of handles depending on volume and weight of the container. There are also technical specification requirements for Drop Test, Water Spray Resistance, Shock Absorption and Vibration Tests. To meet ATA specification, cases must surpass these ATA test requirements.
