measure
a
case?
Case
dimensions
are
always
shown
in
the
following
order

A
case
is
measured
by
laying
it
flat
the
way
you
are
most
likely
to
open
it,
and
the
hinge
side
opposite
or
away
from
you.

Length:
The
longest
measurement,
looking
down
on
the
case – usually
left
to
right.
Width: The
narrowest
measurement,
looking
down
on
the
case – usually
front
to
back.
Height: Measured
from
the
bottom
of
the
case
to
the
top
of
the
case.
The “lid” is
designated
as
H1
and
the “base” is
designated
as

combination
locks,
how
do
I
set
them?

lock

What
does “Mil
Spec” mean?
Mil
Spec
is
short
for
Military
Specifications.
The
U.S.
government
has
established
specifications
and
standards
to
manufacture
most
products
to
be
provided
to
the
military.
As
a
U.S.
military
and
government
vendor,
we
are
aware
of
these
very
stringent
specifications.
What
does
ATA
approved
mean?
The
ATA
(Airline
Transit
Authority)
sets
standards
for
packaging
and
cases
in
order
to
protect
equipment
and
products
shipped
by
air
transportation.
The
ATA
publishes
a
manual
that
indicates
the
specifications
that
must
met
and
referred
to
as
ATA
300.
What
are
the
ATA
Specifications?
Within
the
ATA
300
class
for
transport
containers,
there
are
two
categories
for
reusable
containers,
and
a
third
category
for “disposable” containers.

Following
is
each
category’s
specifications,
and
the
durability
definitions
for
each
respective
category.
Temperature
extremes:
-40
degrees
F
to
130
degrees
F
Fasteners
and
Hardware:
Are
to
be
flush
or
recessed.
Straps
and
buckles
are
not
acceptable.
Handles/
Hand
Holds:
Except
for
molded
containers,
where
guarded
handles
are
used,
all
handles
handholds
or
grips,
shall
be
recessed
flush
with
the
container.
There
are
also
requirements
regarding
the
number
of
handles
depending
on
volume
and
weight
of
the
container.
There
are
also
technical
specification
requirements
for
Drop
Test,
Water
Spray
Resistance,
Shock
Absorption
and
Vibration
Tests.
To
meet
ATA
specification,
cases
must
surpass
these
ATA
test
requirements. |
