The shift to environmentally conscious practices is prevalent across various industries — the packaging industry included. At Cases By Source, we’ve invested in resources and processes to support sustainable manufacturing for custom case solutions. At the same time, we’ve added recyclable cases to our large portfolio of stock case options.

Light bulb phase. The goal of this phase is to gain a deeper understanding of your objectives and the passion behind your product so we can weave it into the fabric (pun absolutely intended) of your packaging solution.
The napkin sketch. Playing on our collective knowledge and creative collaboration, together we sketch out high-level design options. In doing so, we develop the tone of the final design through functionality, colors and brand representation.

Drum roll please. Through 3D models and rendering, this is the phase where you’ll get a sense of the look and feel of the final product. While we aim to have the initial vision captured, elements can be revised to ensure it’s exactly what you want.
It’s tool time. Sit back and relax while we create your custom dies and molds (if applicable). Depending on the manufacturing process, this can take between anywhere from 1 week to 6 weeks in the case of a more complex injection molded tool.
It’s aliiive! All custom projects, of any size, won’t proceed into the manufacturing stage without an approved First Article. This is the moment where your product is finally tangible and comes to life. And if ISTA or environmental testing is required, it would happen during this phase as well.
Shh! No peeking. You can continue to chill while we continue cutting, molding, sewing and printing away. This is the phase where your case is assembled, inspected packed and prepared for shipment to you and your well-deserving customers.
It’s the big reveal. It’s finally here — the moment where the world gets to see your new case. It’s like the birth of your first child, but better. Need help managing your inventory and Just In Time shipments? No problem, we’ve got you covered there, too. Your first born has nothing on that.
As a sustainable packaging manufacturer, our goal is to deliver the highest quality packaging solutions with minimal environmental impact. We recognize that our customers have their own sustainability initiatives. It’s important for us to align our principles and practices with their requirements. We achieve this by developing cases that:
Reusable packaging solutions tailored to the size and shape of sensitive medical equipment and devices
Heavy-duty, reusable cases with custom-designed protective compartments and inserts for tools and parts
Form-fitting, reusable cases that protect delicate electronics while minimizing the need for extra cushioning
Reusable cases that are durable enough to withstand multiple shipping cycles before needing replacement
The Customer’s Challenge: With a packaging solution made of corrugate and foam, the customer sought an alternative solution with no foam. That way, the entire package would be recyclable. At the same time, they wanted their boxes to be able to ship flat to further minimize space requirements and costs.
The CBS Solution: Guided by usability and sustainability in an effort to simplify the design to minimal pieces and materials, Cases By Source developed a packaging solution without foam to reduce costs and make the packaging fully recyclable. Our corrugated box manufacturing facility is certified by the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI), allowing us to provide these trusted seals on the final box. To further reduce our footprint, we provided boxes that would ship flat to increase pack out, lower shipping costs, and reduce space requirements.
The end solution was a single-stream recyclable.
At the manufacturing facility, we procure from 100% renewable resources that purchase their paper from trees from land that replant the trees and do not add to deforestation. You can learn more about FSC and SFI via the links below. What’s more, all inks are water-based.

Choosing a case from the NANUK R-Collection makes a statement. It's a way to support greener practices that will positively impact the environment for future generations. All the while, you get uncompromised product protection.
