The stage is set: With the growing impact of product packaging on purchasing decisions, there is a push for businesses to raise the bar on packaging design. In the escalating competition for best unboxing experience, Cases By Source is proud to offer solutions that help companies come out on top.
Used for enterprise connectivity and virtual reality augmentation, Magic Leap is a wearable computer. Included in the kit is the Magic Leap device (a headset and controller), a charger, cables and other peripherals.
While the case for the Magic Leap kit was highly stylized and in line with a high-tech product, the unboxing experience was a disposable solution. To support the needs of their customer base who wanted to store the product after each use and travel with it, the company sought a reusable, protective solution — with that memorable unboxing experience.
While Magic Leap came to Cases By Source with a number of innovative and high-concept style ideas, they weren’t designed for manufacturing and mass production. From design elements, to material selections, to how the user would interface with the product, the solution you see today was very much a collaborative effort to bring their vision to life. Marrying molded plastics with the highest performing fabrics from offshore production facilities, we created a resilient solution with the Magic Leap brand story woven throughout.

Centered around the colorful and fun Lego toy system, LEGOLAND is a family of chain theme parks that features interactive rides, live shows, building workshops and more. One of these parks includes the new LEGOLAND in Goshen, New York.
As LEGOLAND Goshen opened its doors to the public, maintenance stations were built out to accommodate the handful of maintenance professionals working on various rides. The initial tool boxes provided to the workers tried to piece together the packaging from tooling manufacturers with a stock tool case. But this method left the case unorganized in terms of tool types and brands. Looking to enhance tool organization while creating an inventory management system that enabled quick quality and safety checks, LEGOLAND Goshen searched for a custom tool case alternative.
Using multiple trays within a stock case solution, CBS helped LEGOLAND fit more tools into a smaller footprint, with tools organized by likeness and size in each tray. While this level of organization helped maintenance workers be more productive, the two-toned foreign object damage (FOD) foam made it easy to see if tools were missing from the kit — one of their checkboxes for reopening rides to the public, as well as an end-of-the-day checkpoint. The creation of this customized foam was expedited by the use of the CBS TraceCase and booth system: a lightbox that quickly measures tools and converts them into CAD files. While 12 maintenance kits were built to start, the company can quickly order more as the park scales and so, in turn, does its maintenance team.

A new medical device manufacturer rolling out a pain therapy device that would be used by patients in their homes.
Before bringing their new device to market, the manufacturer wanted to ensure the device packaging created a high-touch first impression. While they liked the soft, semi-rigid style of an off-the-shelf EVA case, they didn’t want a commodity-looking product, seeing as stock options were limited in terms of size, color (just black), and shape. Instead, they wanted to create a stylized solution that mimicked the immersive experience of unboxing a new pair of headphones, AR equipment or other electronic devices.
Using the same EVA molding technology used on off-the-shelf cases, CBS designed and manufactured an EVA case with a unique shape, different materials, colors, and other branding elements. While the manufacturer could be confident in the case's protective capability, they arrived at a solution that complemented the innovation behind their device. For a new device in the market, this investment helped facilitate trust around not only the device but also the brand as a whole — and more trust translates into more business.

A provider of virtual reality training systems and support, with applications that range from training for tactical skills to military training programs.
The nature of virtual reality training systems calls for electronics like screens, speakers and other equipment to be brought on-site. A standard ATA road case functioned purely as a transport vehicle for these system parts, with personnel having to take all of the equipment out of the box and set it up upon arrival. To operate more efficiently on-site, the VR training provider sought to build an immersive VR training station that was both portable and deployable.
CBS was able to design and build a two-in-one solution that acted both as a transport case and the station itself. With screens, speakers, and other equipment integrated into the case, training facilitators were able to simply open the case on-site and deploy it — no extra steps needed. While enabling faster setups, the custom solution also brings consistency to the process for a more cohesive provider experience.

“This kit is designed for maximum efficiency in the park. Not only can you carry more tools in a more portable way, but it’s much faster to find tools you need once you arrive at a maintenance job.”
